JJ Abrams mystery flick Super 8 gets a website

UPDATE – This isn’t the only SUPER 8 website on the web. Some crafty viewers noticed that there were some letters hidden in the trailer. Those letters spell out “scariest thing I ever saw.” And of course that leads to www.scariestthingieversaw.com, a viral site set up for the film. There appears to be a countdown to May 15, which, I’m guessing, is when the trailer will show up online…

Ever since Drew McWeeny at HitFix broke the news earlier this week that a super secret JJ Abrams trailer would be premiering before IRON MAN 2 in theaters this weekend, the internet has gone batshit insane with enthusiasm. Which is a good thing. Not so much of a good thing is that the enthusiasm has turned into rampant spoiling. I would’ve loved to have been able to see this trailer fresh but no matter where I turned, people were giving away details right and left (and yes, I realize we even posted some of those details here, but that doesn’t mean I’m happy about it).

I’ve still yet to see the trailer (I’ll have to pay to see IRON MAN 2 in theaters this weekend for that) but I can visit the film’s official website. Of course there’s not much there at all yet but it’s certainly something to keep an eye on. And it’s always an awesome thing to see the Amblin logo on a movie’s website (the last time we saw such a thing was 2006’s MONSTER HOUSE). Click on the Super 8 lens below to check out the teaser site for the JJ Abrams/Steven Spielberg collaboration SUPER 8!
