I have some STAR WARS: EPISODE VII news for you, and while it does involve another casting rumor (groan), there are also some comments from director J.J. Abrams about the feel and tone for his upcoming film.

J.J. Abrams recently spoke to EW and they wanted to know which previous STAR WARS film would be the best example of the tone and spirit of his movie:

“Impossible for me to say because it’s going to be an evolving thing. I would say we are working really hard to make a movie that feels as emotional and authentic and exciting as possible. Whatever your favorite Star Wars movie is and how to compare it is really sort of subjective.”

J.J. Abrams has received a lot of unsought advice from fans and the media for STAR WARS: EPISODE VII, and he was asked if there have been any comments he's seen or read that he agrees with:

“It’s been nice see that how important it is and to be reminded how important it is to so many people. We all know that [creator George Lucas'] dream has become almost a religion to some people. I remember reading a thing somewhere, someone wrote about just wanting [the new film] to feel real; to feel authentic. I remember I felt that way when I was 11 years old when I saw the first one. As much of a fairy tale as it was, it felt real. And to me, that is exactly right.”

One of the biggest complaints about the last trilogy was how it didn't feel the same as the original, and if J.J. Abrams wants his film to feel real then using more practical sets and not filming in digital is a step in the right direction in my opinion.

Meanwhile, Latino-Review is claiming that two more actors have had meetings for roles in STAR WARS: EPISODE VII. The site says THE BUTLER's David Oyelowo went in for an unknown role and Michael B. Jordan (FRUITVALE STATION, CHRONICLE) personally met with J.J. Abrams. As it is with all STAR WARS casting rumors at this point, take this news with a massive grain of salt.

STAR WARS: EPISODE VII should be released sometime in 2014.
