Every once in a while, an extraordinary opportunity will come along and remind me just how great life can be. That is exactly how I felt when JoBlo.com offered me the perfect escape to Hawaii for Universal Pictures highly anticipated comedic flick FORGETTING SARAH MARSHALL.
Whether it was luck or law of attraction at work, I thanked my lucky stars and embarked on an eleven-hour journey across the universe for a four-day work adventure in the sun. After all, it’s not everyday I get a chance to work on an exotic island! The fun commenced with a traditional lai at the Honolulu airport and a jaw dropping scenic drive up to the North Shore to The Turtle Bay Resort in O’ahu (where the film was shot). At last I witnessed what the fuss was all about in surfer’s paradise.
Mai Tais, lobster tails and great laughs with colleagues at our beachfront restaurant were a great kickoff to our fab press junket. The following day propelled us into unremitting action and full-blown entertainment starting with amusing interviews of the FSM cast. The talented and hilarious bunch were as uproarious offset as they were onset! Our interviews were followed by an exhilarating helicopter ride overlooking the island and in particular, set locations from the film as seen in the clip below. Last but not least, the awesome folks from Universal arranged an evening Luau for all of the press to enjoy and let loose at…or better yet hang loose.
I became a beach bum on my last day in O’ahu and took in the beauty the island has to offer while secretly praying the trip would not come to an end. I could easily get used to a peaceful life on this spectacular island. Needless to say, this was by far one of the best press junkets I have ever attended so I’d like to thank Jason Segel for choosing Hawaii as his set location, Universal Pictures for the best press day in paradise and JoBlo.com for my invite. I want to go back (sigh).
