Way at the beginning of the year we told you all about a survival drama heading our way from SMOKIN’ ACES director Joe Carnahan called THE GREY. You guys remember that shite? At the time Bradley Cooper, who seems to do it all, was attached to star. Well folks it seems things are a-changing a bit for THE GREY!
You see according to The Hollywood Reporter’s Heat Vision blog Cooper is out and fellow A-TEAM co-star Liam Neeson is in! Is it entertaining that Carnahan also directed THE A-TEAM? Keeping this one in-house folks! Seriously though… According to the site Neeson is in negotiations to take over the role originally assigned to Cooper, who’s reasons for leaving are unknown at this time. I’m pretty sure it’s safe to bet on ‘scheduling conflicts’ with this one and chances are it’s actually legit! Perhaps THE HANGOVER 2 legit… Hmm…
The story begins after a plane goes down in Alaska, with a man and his oil drilling team find themselves struggling to survive in the wild. The men come under attack by large, vicious, aggressive wolves who see the humans as intruders who must be killed.
Carnahan is directing from a script he penned with Ian Jeffers. Neeson will be starring as the oil drilling team leader if he does indeed sign, which chances are he will. Now Liam Neeson can do no wrong and I’m actually a pretty big fan of Carnahan so I’m going to go ahead and sign up for this one… Though I’ve got to admit I’m a little skeptical. Carnahan’s forte is usually fast and badass.. THE GREY sounds like it’s going to be a very slow-paced, vicious flick. Then again how much can you really judge from the synopsis?
