Having written and directed the disturbing GUT, produced the mind game madness of PHOBIA, and currently at work on the "life after death" thriller AYLA, the mononymous Elias is quickly becoming one of the most interesting filmmakers in the indie genre scene. He has teamed with AMERICAN CARNY director Nick Basile and master of horror Joe Dante to bring more scares to the screen in a film called DARK, and nearly a year after we debuted an early teaser for the movie, we have received word on when it will be making its world premiere.
DARK will be playing in front of its first audience at the Oldenburg International Film Festival in Germany this September. The 2015 edition of the festival is set to run from September 16th to the 20th.
Written by Elias, directed by Basile, and produced by Dante, DARK stars Whitney Able, Alexandra Breckenridge, Brendan Sexton III, and Michael Eklund in a story that is
set in New York during the Northeast blackout of 2003 and centers on a disturbed young woman trapped alone in a loft during the outage.
The talent involved and the concept makes this one sound quite interesting to me, I'm looking forward to hearing more about it and to seeing it whenever the chance arises. Although it didn't last long in my area, I remember the 2003 blackout well. I was on my way back from watching a movie, and seeing that the power was out everywhere for a 30 mile stretch was a worrying experience. Hopefully DARK will be even more frightening than that drive home was.
