As you probably know by now, The CW is remaking "Tales from the Darkside" and has tapped Joe Hill (HORNS) and Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci (STAR TREK) to oversee the new version of the classic horror series. It's not likely that it will much resemble the 80s TV show, which was produced by George Romero among others, but will it still be cut from the same cloth?
Hill spoke to MTV recently and gave the world an idea of what we can expect from the show.
"Well, for starters, the show is just called 'Darkside,' " Hill told MTV News via e-mail. "And it really is a reinvention, not a reboot. My feeling is, in the wake of shows like 'The X-Files' and 'Fringe,' the days when you could do a straightforward horror anthology are over."
Sounds like "Darkside" will ditch the anthology format altogether, which is an interesting way to go about it. If it's just going to be another serialized sci-fi horror show, then what's the point of basing it on "Tales from the Darkside."
Hill calls the series a "descendant, not a reanimation", and expects the first season to run approximately 11 to 13 episodes. The author also mentioned a few intriguing names he'd evidently like to have involved: Neil Gaiman (Sandman"), C. Robert Cargill (SINISTER) and author Kelly Link. None of them have officially been invited to participate, however.
