John Carpenter recommends 2 movies for Halloween

Yes, it's that time of year when everyone starts watching horror movies as frequently as all of us do year-round. And those peeps are going to need some recommends. We've already heard Stephen King's recommends and so today it's fitting that HALLOWEEN and BIG TROUBLE IN LITTLE CHINA writer-director John Carpenter shares his: THE CURSE OF FRANKENSTEIN and  HORROR OF DRACULA?

He says:

Yeah, two movies from the ’50s. The Curse of Frankenstein and the Horror of Dracula. Both Hammer films, and they’re both really fun. They were groundbreaking at the time, they were also extremely violent at the time. Any time you can outrage British critics, you’re doing something right.

HORROR OF DRACULA begins when:

On a search for his missing friend Jonathan Harker (John Van Eyssen), vampire hunter Dr. Van Helsing (Peter Cushing) is led to Count Dracula's (Christopher Lee) castle. Upon arriving, Van Helsing finds an undead Harker in Dracula's crypt and discovers that the count's next target is Harker's ailing fiancée, Lucy Holmwood (Carol Marsh). With the help of her brother, Arthur (Michael Gough), Van Helsing struggles to protect Lucy and put an end to Count Dracula's parasitic reign of terror.

THE CURSE OF FRANKENSTEIN follows:

Victor Frankenstein (Peter Cushing), a brilliant scientist willing to stop at nothing in his quest to reanimate a deceased body. After alienating his longtime friend and partner, Paul Krempe (Robert Urquhart), with his extreme methods, Frankenstein assembles a hideous creature (Christopher Lee) out of dead body parts and succeeds in bringing it to life. But the monster is not as obedient or docile as Frankenstein expected, and it runs amok, resulting in murder and mayhem.
