John Carpenter’s Halloween 2018 score gets 2-LP expanded edition release

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

One year after releasing the score John Carpenter, Cody Carpenter, and Daniel Davies composed for the 2018 HALLOWEEN sequel, Sacred Bones Records has announced they will be releasing a 2-LP expanded edition of the score just in time for this Halloween.

This is called an "expanded edition" because it will feature 24 extra tracks, making it 28 minutes longer than last year's album. Sacred Bones says this makes for "a more complete, immersive listening experience."

The LP also has all-new art and lavish packaging, including an optical-illusion lenticular sleeve that makes the flames around Michael Myers’s mask dance when you slide it off the record jacket. For diehard fans of the Halloween series, collectors of John Carpenter’s music, or anyone who wants to hear even more of the incredible score to this movie, this expanded edition is a must-buy.

***All LP copies come housed in deluxe gatefold packaging with a lenticular sleeve that makes Michael "burn" when you slide it on and off of the jacket.***

***Sacred Bones Mail-Order Exclusive Edition: Edition of 1000 2xLP copies, pressed on Glow-in-the-Dark splatter vinyl, and available by mail-order only. ONE PER PERSON LIMIT.***

***Sacred Bones Record Society version: Edition of 150 2xLP copies pressed on Society-exclusive "Bloody Jumpsuit" vinyl and with Society-exclusive mixed tape, and available by mail-order only.***

***Standard edition LP version is pressed on one orange LP and one black LP.***

The cover art for the 2-LP release and the styles of vinyl can be seen below, along with a video demonstrating how cool the lenticular cover is.

If you'd like to pick up a copy of this "expanded edition", it can be pre-ordered from Sacred Bones. The official release date is October 18, 2019.

I don't have a record player, so I'm left out of this fun stuff, but I did think the HALLOWEEN 2018 score was pretty awesome. Just as I expected from Carpenter.
