John Scott 3’s zombie script Maggie wins 2011 Blood List top spot

Sucker better get made then, ay? And soon!

You ghouls and gals recall a spec-script we’ve written about on occasion called MAGGIE? Sure you do, the John Scott 3 script that Timur Bekmambetov WANTED to produce (sorry, had to), even going so far as to assign FX maven to Henry Hobson as director. Ringing any bloody bells?!?

Well, one benefit of the film falling apart is that MAGGIE has just been awarded coveted top spot on the Blood List, which, like the Black List for films in general, recognizes the best unproduced screenplay in the horror realm. My guess is, with this profile spike, the film will be made far sooner than later. In fact, the film already has a 2013 release frame and IMBP Pro development page.

Here’s a recap:

Maggie is a 16-year old girl from a town in middle America who becomes infected by a zombie. It will take six months for Maggie to turn, and the film tracks the transformation as she stays with her family.

Sounds like an austere, intimate look at what slowly becoming a zombie is like. If so, I’m sold. Now it’s time for the damn script to sell!
