Jon Hamm will join Ansel Elgort and Lily James in Edgar Wright’s Baby Driver

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

Edgar Wright's next project, BABY DRIVER, has been on the director's mind for some time and, once he left ANT-MAN behind, the film finally began to come together. Ansel Elgort (THE FAULT IN OUR STARS) will be starring in the film alongside Lily James (PRIDE AND PREJUDICE AND ZOMBIES) and Jamie Foxx (DJANGO UNCHAINED), and now Variety has learned that another new name can be added to that list, everyone's favourite chain-smoking drunk, Jon Hamm (Mad Men).

BABY DRIVER follows "a young, talented getaway driver who relies on the beat of his personal soundtrack to be the best. After being coerced into working for a crime boss, he must face the music when a doomed heist threatens his life, love and freedom." Hamm's role hasn't yet been revealed, but I'm hoping that we'll see him take on the role of the crime boss. He's always a fun actor to watch and it'd be great to see him dig into a role which lets him be truly villainous. (Update: The Wrap reports that Jon Hamm will be playing "a villain who is part of a gang of bank robbers.")

Production on BABY DRIVER is expected to get underway later this year for a March 17, 2017 release.
