Trailer for Jordan Peele’s Lovecraft Country creeps online!

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

The Jordan Peele (US, GET OUT) and J.J. Abrams produced HBO horror show LOVECRAFT COUNTRY is a project I've been keeping an eye on for some time. The novel by Matt Ruff was a great read – scary and humane in equal measure, as well as visually arresting – and I always thought it would make a great movie or series someday. So imagine how excited I got when the project got announced as a big-budget HBO series, and even more excited when the aforementioned Jordan Peele got involved!

Anyway, here's the official synopsis:

HBO’s new drama series, based on the 2016 novel by Matt Ruff of the same name, debuts this August. The series follows Atticus Freeman (Jonathan Majors) as he joins up with his friend Letitia (Jurnee Smollett-Bell) and his Uncle George (Courtney B. Vance) to embark on a road trip across 1950s Jim Crow America in search of his missing father (Michael Kenneth Williams). This begins a struggle to survive and overcome both the racist terrors of white America and the terrifying monsters that could be ripped from a Lovecraft paperback.

Lovecraft Country is executive produced by Misha Green, who also serves as showrunner, J.J Abrams, Jordan Peele, Bill Carraro, Yann Demange (who also directed Episode 1), Daniel Sackheim (who also directed Episodes 2 and 3) and David Knoller (executive producer on Episode 1); based on the novel by Matt Ruff.

Meanwhile, you can catch LOVECRAFT COUNTRY on HBO this August. I personally can't wait!

So what do you guys think? Any other fans of the book? If so, like what you see? Either way, sound off below!
