The INCEPTION reunion continues!

Long before any official details surfaced, internet conjecture pegged Christopher Nolan’s dream extractor Joseph Gordon-Levitt for the sequel to THE DARK KNIGHT, possibly as mischievous villain The Riddler.

We’d later learn that THE DARK KNIGHT RISES would instead have INCEPTION’s Tom Hardy as villain Bane — a perfectly acceptable alternative. But now, bonus! Deadline is reporting that Gordon-Levitt is indeed now in talks to join the stellar cast of the trilogy-topper, as his post-LOOPER schedule will be free when the Bat suits up again.

Deadline is unsure of what role the actor would play, so feel free to speculate away. A colleague (like perhaps non-Robin Dick Grayson)? A new nosy reporter? Another villain? Maybe we’ll see Riddler after all? Will Batman be running the gauntlet through his colorful gallery of rogues?

Meanwhile, Nolan’s Bat-cinematographer Wally Pfister was recently interviewed on the Kevin and Josh Movie Show (via Nolan Fans), and had this to say about the script: “I read the script two weeks ago, and he’s [topped TDK]. Plain and simple — he’s done it. It’s a phenomenal script. He’s still in the process of cutting it back because it’s a very long script right now, but it’s really phenomenal. And he actually had me go back and wanted me to watch, in IMAX, BATMAN BEGINS and THE DARK KNIGHT again. When I watched those I had read the script for THE DARK KNIGHT RISES and was like, ‘dude, it is a perfect trilogy.’ I think that was his intent, to work off those two pictures — and they are very different pictures. And it’s funny, we all had different opinions about which picture we like better.”

Pfister also says that Anne Hathaway “looked phenomenal in the wardrobe” of Selina Kyle. Rowr.
