Judy Greer and Steve Guttenberg star in Into the Dark: Good Boy

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

The Hulu / Blumhouse anthology series Into the Dark is a show that consists of feature films that are released monthly, each movie having something to do with a holiday or notable date that take places in the month of its release. For the most part, the second season of Into the Dark has been covering the same days that were covered in the first season – Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year, and Valentine's Day. There have been a couple differences; the March movie in season 2 went for St. Patrick's Day instead of the Ides of March and the April one was devoted to Pooka Day rather than April Fool's Day.

Next month's Into the Dark movie, DELIVERED, with be focusing on Mother's Day, like season 1's May movie did. But the June movie will be doing something different. Last June's Into the Dark entry was devoted to Father's Day. Fathers don't get a horrific experience this year; this June, Into the Dark is celebrating Pet Appreciation Week.

Arriving on the Hulu streaming service on June 12th is Into the Dark: GOOD BOY, directed by TRAGEDY GIRLS' Tyler MacIntrye from a script written by Aaron and Will Eisenberg.

Judy Greer, who recently worked with Blumhouse on HALLOWEEN 2018 and its upcoming sequel HALLOWEEN KILLS, stars in GOOD BOY, taking on a role that the Eisenbergs wrote specifically for her. Her character is

Maggie, a woman who gets an emotional support dog to help quell some of her anxiety. She finds him to be even more effective than she could have imagined because, unbeknownst to her, he kills anyone who adds stress to her life.

Greer is joined in the cast by Steve Guttenberg as Don, Maggie's "misanthropic but at times soft around the edges" boss; Ellen Wong as Annie, a former baby-sitting charge of Maggie's who recently moved to Los Angeles and rekindles their friendship; Elise Neal as Dr. Linda Johnson, Maggie's fertility doctor; Maria Conchita Alonso as Bea, Maggie's "no-nonsense" landlord; McKinley Freeman as Nate, a "detective who believes deeply in law and order, which causes his burgeoning relationship with Maggie to tailspin when he is confronted with a gray area in which he realizes she is operating"; and Chico the Dog as the titular GOOD BOY.

The Eisenbergs were already crafting the idea for GOOD BOY with Greer in mind before they ever met her – and coincidentally, the first time they crossed paths was when Greer walked her dog past a coffee shop the Eisenbergs were in.
