Jurassic World: Dominion is complete, Colin Trevorrow announces

We’re still seven months out from the June 10, 2022 theatrical release of the upcoming Jurassic Park / Jurassic World sequel Jurassic World: Dominion, but director Colin Trevorrow has taken to Twitter to announce that the finishing touches have been put on the film and it is now complete.

Trevorrow, who previously directed Jurassic World, directed this one from from a screenplay he wrote with Emily Carmichael, based on an idea he crafted with his Jurassic World and Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom co-writer Derek Connolly.

The film stars Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, Omar Sy, Mamoudou Athie, DeWanda Wise, Daniella Pineda, Justice Smith, Jake Johnson, Omar Sy, Scott Haze, Campbell Scott, and Dichen Lachman, as well as original Jurassic Park stars Sam Neill, Laura Dern, and Jeff Goldblum. Trevorrow has promised that this is a “true ensemble”, and Neill, Dern, Goldblum, Pratt, and Howard are all of equal importance to the story.

A collaboration between Universal Pictures and Amblin Entertainment, Jurassic World: Dominion was executive produced by Trevorrow and Steven Spielberg, with Frank Marshall producing alongside Pat Crowley. Sara Scott, senior vice president of production at Universal, oversaw the project for the studio.

A synopsis for Jurassic World: Dominion hasn’t been released yet, but Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom and Trevorrow’s short film Battle at Big Rock set it up to take place in a time when dinosaurs are running loose in the North American countryside.

Filming on this project started a long time ago. In early 2020, it was four weeks into a twenty-week production schedule when filming had to be put on hold for four months due to the pandemic. It’s good to hear that Trevorrow finally got it across the finish line after all this time.

Jurassic World: Dominion is set for release on June 10, 2022.
