While I haven’t read it yet, I’ve heard only good things about Elizabeth Kostova’s novel THE HISTORIAN from just about everyone- horror fiends and regular Joes alike. So the fact that Sony is adapting the book for the big screen is pretty exciting, and even more motivation to pick a copy of it up and give it a whirl.
Brad Caleb Kane was just hired to adapt the novel, which is about a young woman’s search for her father, who is on the hunt for the grave of Vlad the Impaler, the feudal lord who inspired Bram Stoker’s Dracula. Adventure, mystery and horror, all wrapped into one. Cool beans!
Sony bought the rights 2 years ago, so it’s nice that they’re finally gearing up to actually bring it to life. Apparently they’ve been waiting to find the ‘perfect’ writer for the job, and all sources are pointing to Kane! Let’s hope he doesn’t prove them wrong.
Funny little tidbit about him, he used to be a child star, was the voice of Aladdin in ALADDIN and it’s sequel, and even made an appearance in STARSHIP TROOPERS. Talk about a diverse resume!
