There’s just about one thing that most people need to know about REVOLUTIONARY ROAD – Kate and Leo. It’s the first time Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio have worked together since TITANIC and that will likely be enough to put butts in the seats. But DreamWorks has higher hopes for the film than just waxing nostalgic for Jack and Rose. The movie is a leading Oscar contender despite Oscar season barely having begun (although isn’t it always Oscar season?).
In the film, directed by Sam Mendes, Winslet’s husband, Kate and Leo play a couple whose marriage is scarred by regret, stress and frustration. Looking to jumpstart their lives, they move to France but they pack an extra suitcase of emotional baggage and their dreams of self-fulfillment are thrown into jeopardy. The film will see an Oscar-qualifying limited release on December 26 before expanding later in January.
