Prior to Ke Huy Quan winning the Golden Globe, he participated in The Hollywood Reporter’s Actor Roundtable, where he was asked who made his deal for Everything Everywhere All At Once, to which he made a revelation as to who handled it: Chunk from The Goonies!

“Jeff Cohen, who was in The Goonies with me–he was Chunk–is all grown now and he’s an entertainment lawyer.” Ke Huy Quan elaborated on the partnership, saying, “When the producer of our movie was trying to make my deal, he said he never imagined that he’d have to talk to Chunk and Data for his movie.” He also went into just how much Jeff Cohen had to do during his time working with the actor. “Anyway, then I did the whole thing, too–hired an acting coach, a dialogue coach, a voice coach–because I’m playing three different versions of the same character. I also hired a body-movement coach, and he’d pick different animals for me to practice as. One was a squirrel. I watched countless videos of nothing but squirrels on YouTube. I was on all fours trying to move like a squirrel.”

One of the other participants, Adam Sandler, asked, “Chunk get you a good deal?” to which Ke Huy Quan said, “Jeff is an outstanding lawyer.” After all, Goonies never say die!

It’s no secret that Jeff Cohen left the acting business decades ago and went into law. But that he managed the deal for his former The Goonies co-star isn’t only a humorous reveal, but a heartwarming one, showing the tight bond between the castmates.

Ke Huy Quan just won the Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actor in a Motion Picture. While he didn’t thank Jeff Cohen directly, he did acknowledge Steven Spielberg, who has a Story By and Executive Producer credit on The Goonies. At this point, Ke Huy Quan most certainly could have afforded the house from The Goonies when it was for sale.

Ke Huy Quan isn’t one to shy away from his past roles. As recently as this week, the actor expressed interest in reprising his role as Short Round from Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom. “If Disney or Lucasfilm ever come to me and say, ‘We want to do a Short Round spin-off’, I’m there man! I love that character so much and it would just be incredible to revisit so many years later.”

Other participants in the roundtable were Austin Butler (Elvis), Colin Farrell (The Banshees of Inisherin), Brendan Fraser (The Whale), Jeremy Pope (The Inspection), and Sandler (Hustle).
