Keanu Reeves writing an action comic book called BRZRKR!

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

Keanu Reeves can do it all: act, play music, direct, and now he's co-writing an action-packed sci-fi comic book called BRZRKR for BOOM! Studios (who have a first look deal with Netflix), that'll serve as a potential story for a live-action property (the character is even meant to look like Reeves). Here's the official synopsis:

The action-packed and hyper-violent “BRZRKR” centers on a warrior who looks a lot like a certain beloved actor and has walked a blood-soaked path across the world for centuries. In present day, the Berzerker does dangerous jobs for the U.S. government in exchange for the truth about his existence.

Here's what Reeves had to say about the project, in an interview with USA Today:

I guess I'm in the writing room…Skyping pretty regularly. We're excited about what's happening. The story's taking some really interesting twists and turns.

This character…was born 80,000 years ago, half man, his father's a war god. It's a little fantasy in reality…I had this image in my head of a guy fighting through the ages because of his father's compulsion to violence…He has to also hide himself. So he'd pretend to die and then keep moving on. It's like, ‘I’ll go do some missions for you and you'll help me figure out who I am and how this has come to be and how maybe I could get released from this.’ But then of course there's ulterior motives on both sides.

It's like, ‘Yeah, I think it would be fun just to see him punch through someone's chest or pull out a rib or rip an arm off,’…[The Berzerker] can heal to a certain extent, so it's fun to have these kinds of outrageous consequences and still have the character kind of moving forward.

Sounds cool to me! Sign me up!

Meanwhile, BRZRKR – co-written by Matt Kindt and illustrated by Alessandro Vitti – will be available in monthly installments starting October 7th.

As for Reeves, you can next see him in BILL AND TED FACE THE MUSIC in theaters August 28th (for now).

But what do you guys think? Fans of Keanu? If so, down to buy his comic book? Either way, sound off below!
