If you ever needed an excuse to stop loitering in front of your local convenience store, Kevin Smith is about to give it to you. On Monday the fan-favorite filmmaker announced that he and his friends plan to host a live reading of his un-produced screenplay for "Clerks III," the follow-up to his 2006 comedy smash starring Brian O' Halloran, Jeff Anderson and Rosario Dawson.

According to Smith, the "Clerks III" event will go down as a benefit for the First Avenue Playhouse in Atlantic Heights, a town in Smith's beloved New Jersey home. Proceeds gained from the August 3 gathering will be put toward restoration of the 80-seat theater. Obviously, due to the limited seating, fans will have to act fast if they'd like to attend. Each ticket will cost $100 apiece.

For those of you keeping track, the original CLERKS is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year. Made on a shoestring budget and starring a cast of unknowns, CLERKS helped put Smith on the map as the low-grade feature quickly gained a cult following among indie film aficionados. The movie centered on two slacker employees (Brian O' Halloran, Jefff Anderson) of the Quick Stop convenience store and the customers they were meant to endure. Endlessly quotable and seen as a milestone of pop culture, CLERKS paved the way for Smith to become one of the most recognized and appreciated filmmakers of the geek comedy spectrum.

Next up for Smith is the long-awaited sequel to his 2001 comedy JAY AND SILENT BOB STRIKE BACK, titled JAY AND SILENT BOB REBOOT. For the upcoming follow-up, Jay and Silent Bob return to Hollywood to stop a reboot of 'Bluntman and Chronic' movie from getting made. In addition to featuring Jason Mewes and Smith as the dynamic stoner duo, Jay and Silent Bob, respectively, the movie also stars Rosario Dawson, Chris Hemsworth, Shannon Elizabeth, Justin Long, Joey Lauren Adams, Jason Lee, Grant Gustin, and Joe Manganiello, among others.
