Here’s a slick little Aussie thriller I just caught a whiff of. It’s called ACOLYTES and you can see its first poster up top. I’d like you to take a whack at its brief plot synopsis right now:
Three teens blackmail a serial killer… it’s a chiller set in the ‘burbs and forests of Queensland.
Though that summary may seem simple enough, I assure you that the film itself delves much deeper and darker into the storyline. I’d just feel like an asshole if I gave that all away to you. Sue me for caring about our readers! I’m really liking that poster, though, which yet again, is fairly simple. That sure is one mean-looking ‘stache.
ACOLYTES was directed by Jon Hewitt from a script by Shayne Armstrong and Shane Krause. It stars Joel Edgerton, Belinda McClory, Michael Dorman, Danny Baldwin (not Alec’s brother), Joshua Payne, Anthony Phelan, Todd Levi and Hanna Mangan Lawrence. It will have its world premiere at the September Toronto International Film Festival.
