Killer Inside Adapted

Even though the statement that ‘the book is always better’ is almost always true, I still look forward to checking out what the visual interpretation of a novel is. I mean, two people can adapt the same book and come up with something totally different (just look at both versions of THE SHINING).

Where am I going with this? Oh yeah. Because Variety is reporting this morning that Marc Rocco (MURDER IN THE FIRST) is set to helm the adaptation of Jim Thompson’s THE KILLER INSIDE ME, from the script by Robert Weinbach. Not familiar with the story? Basically, it’s about this small-town, mid-mannered cop in Texas who does a pretty damn good job masking his truer, darker, psychotic self… until it slowly creeps out and reveals that yes… the guys a psychopathic killer.

And while this is an adaptation from a book written over 50 years ago, it still seems ‘fresh’ and ‘new’, and so I personally welcome it with open arms. It’s also not the first time it’s been adapted to the big screen, as there was an attempt back in ’76, from director Burt Kennedy, and starring Stacy Keach… and as I had to look it up (as I’ve never heard of it), methinks it wasn’t that good of a flick. Hopefully this time around they’ll do it better!

Stick around as we hear more about this project, as casting and other fun stuff is likely to start flowing soon!
