Kind of creepy concept art for the Lizard that could have been in Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man 2

JoBloJoBlo

I need you to take yourself back to 2004 when Sam Raimi was still making SPIDER-MAN movies. Do you recall when it was rumored that the director wanted to use the Lizard as one of the enemies in his sequel? If you were ever curious as to what Raimi’s take on the villain would be, some concept art has surfaced via Comicbookmovie.com after doing some searching on Constantine Sekeris’ website.

My initial thought when looking at the concept pieces was “creepy”. Now I’ve moved on to “raptor face” for the first one, and I’m having some problems with the mouth shape on the second. Reminds me of an ant-eater for some odd reason. It may just be the fact that it’s drawn forward facing looking straight out. You can also see a little on Marc Webb‘s lizard in these pieces.

Not that I don’t enjoy Rhys Ifans as an actor, but I really wanted to see Dylan Baker evolve into the Lizard. I think he has that sort of softness and vulnerability that makes you feel for the character. Then again, I’m always going back to this version of the character (I know, I know…):

Check out Raimi’s ideas for the Lizard. If you’d like to see some other concept art for Silver Surfer, A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET, and CABIN IN THE WOODS, head on here.
