Ah, the ol’ “home invasion” horror flick. There’s nothing like watching folks relaxing in the safety of their domains just as a bunch of psychotic nut-jobs break-in for some horrifying fun. In fact, we’ve had two hearty slices of hell-in-the-house tales within the span of one year: THE STRANGERS and LAST HOUSE ON THE LEFT. Today, we have another contender looking to do some domicile busting, called KNIFEPOINT. Let’s see how the plot is going to unravel:
Sisters Abbie (Katherine Randolph) and the wheelchair-bound Michele (Krista Braun) are brutalized when their loft complex is invaded on Christmas Eve by a gang of vicious criminals led by Jess (Grant Reynolds) and his sadistic sister Lorraine (Kym Jackson).
The sisters are caught in the middle of a power struggle amongst the invaders as Adam (Scott Elrod) and the psychotic Rizzo (Andy Mackenzie) vie for control of the gang. When the girls’ parents Michael (Bobby Ray Shafer) and Emily (Lenora May) stage a surprise holiday visit, the bloodbath goes into overdrive as the other members of the gang including Old Boy (R.A. Mihailoff) assault the family and their friends.
Well, that certainly does have a very LAST HOUSE feel to it. I know that writer/director Jed Strahm is a fan of Wes Craven’s classic. KNIFEPOINT does seem pretty damn intense (those are pics from the flick up top and below). I’d be interested in seeing a trailer once it becomes available. Since principle photography has just wrapped, hopefully we’ll be getting one soon. For more info, you can check out the official site here.
