Kong Madness!

If you haven’t heard already that KING KONG is hitting the DVD arena this coming Tuesday, March 28th, then you’ll soon find out as Universal is going all out for the release. Here’s what we got going:

First off, head over to 1=7701>MSN Movies where you can enter in a contest for the main prize of talking on the phone with director Peter Jackson! If this man is your idol, take the 5 minutes it takes to fill out the entry form and try to win! The call might only be 15 minutes, but it’ll be the most exciting 15 minutes you’ve ever had in your life! No joke! While you’re there, you can also listen to the KONG podcast of a Peter Jackson interview, and other cool shite to get you excited for Tuesday.

From there, head over to Fangoria’s Screaming Video, where you can watch a FREE video and Hear sci-fi/monster movie pioners chart the origins of fandom and special FX from the original KING KONG right up to Peter Jackson’s epic remake. Special effects guys Steve Johnson and Rick Baker are among the panelist, as well as Paul Davids, writer/director of the short documentary THE SCI-FI BOYS. If you have time to kill, and are into F/X (and face it, KONG’s effects were amazing), then this will no doubt float your boat.

And finally, we were informed today that the online video game KING KONG: THE BATTLE FOR SKULL ISLAND has debuted in time for the DVD. It’s a fun little diddy where you reinact the fight scene between Kong and the T-Rex, all courtesy of streaming game play. It takes a few minutes to load, but it’s fun, so I suppose it’s worth the wait. Here’s the official story: In the King Kong Battle game, users play the role of King Kong in an earth-shaking, no-holds-barred brawl with another monstrous denizen of Skull Island – the Tyrannosaurus Rex.

So there you have it! KONG is coming! We saw how they partied at the DVD premiere earlier this week, and now you have your chance to chat with the director, and step into Kong’s shoes to kick some T-Rex ass! Be sure to remember (how could you forget) that KING KONG smashes onto DVD this Tuesday.
