After some time spent on the small screen doing excellent work in both “Party Down” and “House of Lies,” Kristen Bell is now set to return to the big screen in a big way.

Mentioned briefly towards the end of last year, Disney’s upcoming project FROZEN is an adaptation of Hans Christian Anderson’s classic tale “The Snow Queen.”  Bell will play the lead in the film, though whether that means she’ll be playing the heroine of the original story (named Gerda) or the Snow Queen herself remains to be seen.  What is known for sure is Bell will take care of both the acting and singing duties for the part, and that the movie is still set to release on November 27th, 2013.

Meanwhile, SOME GIRL(S) is an adaptation of the 2006 play by Neil LaBute.  As per the play’s Amazon page, here’s a plot synopsis: “your career as a writer is blossoming, your beautiful, young fiancee is waiting to get married and rush off to Cancun by your side—so what is your natural reaction? Well, if you’re a man, it’s probably to get nervous and start calling up old girlfriends. And so begins a single man’s odyssey through four hotel rooms as he flies across the country in search of the perfect woman (that he’s already broken up with).”  Bell will play the character of Bobbi, a smart and articulate woman the man suddenly left years before, leaving her in turn without any respect or love for him.

While Neil LaBute is a pretty damn talented writer, his movie direction (LAKEVIEW TERRACE, THE WICKER MAN, the DEATH AT A FUNERAL remake) has long left much to be desired.  So it is with great relief that I can say directorial duties for this particular project will instead be handled by one Jennifer Getzinger, a lady who has cut her teeth on a wide variety of television work that ranges from “Mad Men” to “The Killing” to “Hung.”  No shooting date has been set as of yet, though I’m sure more casting news will come soon (Adam Brody is already in as the main character).
