Kristen Wiig in talks to play villain in Wonder Woman sequel

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

Well, I certainly can't say that I saw this coming. Deadline reports that Kristen Wiig (GHOSTBUSTERS) is in talks with Warners Bros. to play the role of the main villain in WONDER WOMAN 2. That villain would be Cheetah, and Variety adds that Wiig has apparently always been high on Patty Jenkins' list for the role and that the director had even let Kristen Wiig know about her interest before Jenkins left for location scouting. It's not known whether Kristen Wiig will accept the gig, but a recent meeting between the actress and Warner Bros. executives started moving things in the right direction.

Several actresses have been linked to the role of Cheetah in the past few months, with Sarah Paulson throwing her hat into the ring and rumours swirling that Emma Stone had actually been offered the role before turning it down. Her comic-book origins are varied, and more than one individual has carried the mantle of Cheetah, but Barbara Ann Minerva was a British anthropologist who found herself cursed with the powers of a cheetah and became obsessed with learning the secrets of the Amazons.

How do you feel about the possibility of Kristen Wiig playing Cheetah?

WONDER WOMAN 2 is set for a November 1, 2019 release.
