Kruger on Mars

Writer Ehren Kruger is one busy dude in the world of horror. He just wrote THE BROTHERS GRIMM and THE SKELETON, and he was the guy behind THE RING (starring Naomi Watts), as well as SCREAM 3 (a job’s a job, you can’t blame him entirely for that one).

Kruger just sat down with last friday, and chatted about a few of his upcoming projects: JOHN CARTER OF MARS and the werewolf epic BLOOD AND CHOCOLATE. Both projects sound exciting as hell, and Kruger’s stoked to take on the new responsibility of producer for CHOCOLATE.

Here’s a bit of what he had to say about CHOCOLATE:
“At its heart, it’s a werewolf story. But it’s a werewolf story like Interview with a Vampire was a vampire movie. It’s a little more gothic in its treatment of the mythology and what the werewolf metaphor has always been about since the days of Lon Chaney. It has a real following, and we’ve taken a few liberties with the novel. But, hopefully, the fans will be forgiving.”

Liberties with the novel, eh? Sometimes that can be a good thing (THE SHINING)… and sometimes, that can be a very bad thing (HEARTS IN ATLANTIS). Either way, this project sounds cool- let’s just hope he’s off his RING TWO rut!
