Kurt Russell still unsure if he’s in Quentin Tarantino’s final film

Although he’s collaborated with Quentin Tarantino three times, Kurt Russell has yet to receive a call asking if he’ll be in The Movie Critic.

As Quentin Tarantino gears up for his 10th and final film, The Movie Critic, there has been much speculation about which of his frequent collaborators will turn up. Rumors have circled around the likes of Pulp Fiction stars John Travolta and Bruce Willis, but what about those who have starred in more than one Tarantino feature? Will Samuel L. Jackson turn up? Or Uma Thurman? And what about three-time collaborator Kurt Russell? Pretty much everybody has been silent, but now Russell – who first worked with QT on Death Proof – has spoken out. Unfortunately, Kurt Russell says he has yet to get a ring from Tarantino about any potential role.

Although Kurt Russell says he has yet to chat with Tarantino about The Movie Critic, he did offer some insight on the Happy Sad Confused podcast into how he works. “I have no idea [if I’m being considered], I never know. He just calls up or someone calls up and he says hey, and you just go to work. I love working with him…”

Russell also remembered first talking with Tarantino about his 10-and-done stance, saying, “He said a long time ago when we did [the] Death Proof part of Grindhouse, he said, “Yeah I’m gonna do 10. By the time I’m 60 I’m pretty much going to be done. We had a long conversation about that which was really interesting so I guess he’s sticking to it. He’s since talked about that and I think his reasoning is spot on. If he wants me to carry the lead’s water, I will, I don’t care who it is. I mean he’s just a fun person to work with, quite amazing.” Amazing indeed, as Russell would go on to work with Tarantino on The Hateful Eight and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.

No doubt Kurt Russell would be a welcome fit to Quentin Tarantino’s last movie: not only do he and QT get along handsomely, but Russell was already an established name during the movie’s 1970s time period so it could be fun to catch a few Russell easter eggs – or even nods to Stuntman Mike himself, who would have been working in Hollywood during the era.

Do you want Kurt Russell to team up with Quentin Tarantino one more time? Which other Tarantino favorites do you want to see in The Movie Critic?
