Anyone out there recall a French horror flick from 1990 called BABY BLOOD? It was about a young woman named Yanka whose uterus becomes the unwilling host to a strange creature that causes her to kill in order to feed it. Trust me, if you don’t remember after hearing that crazy plot, then you probably didn’t see it. Regardless, we are now getting a sequel entitled LADY BLOOD. It appears that Yanka is now all grown up and may be facing a new horror. Here’s the full plot synopsis:
Yanka is a mother and a chief of police. She’s a fulfilled woman, in love with her husband and happy with her daughter and mother-in-law. Everything’s going great until a strange occurrence disturbs her new life. With the help of her psychiatrist husband, she tries to convince herself that it’s just a nightmare. But it gets worse every day… In the same time, she heads an investigation into the local mob which leads her to the discovery of horrible crimes, so much like the bloody carnage she herself committed while under a monster’s influence all those years earlier…
Wow, Yanka made it all the way up to the chief of police! Good for her. I don’t know how necessary this sequel really is, but at least by the pics up top and below, there appears to be some nice gore.
LADY BLOOD was directed by Jean-Marc Vincent from a script by Hubert Chardot and Emmanuelle Escourrou (who played Yanka in BOTH films). The rest of the cast includes Philippe Nahon (HIGH TENSION), Serge Riaboukine, and Xavier Gens (director of FRONTIERS). It is set to release in France in 2009. No word yet on when it’ll be out in the U.S. You can check out the offical site here.
