Sad news this morning, with CNN reporting that their former talk show host, Larry King, has passed away at 87 years years old. Famous for his iconic interview show, Larry King Live, which aired on the news network for twenty-five years, King was among the most memorable media personalities of his era. King’s interviews were iconic, and I vividly remember, even as a child, watching his nightly show on CNN as he interviewed some of my favorite people. One of the things that was especially cool about King is that he would take phone-in questions from viewers. I tried calling in a bunch of times as a kid, but never made it on the air. He was so iconic he even showed up in Ghostbusters as himself!
King’s health had been fragile with him having battled Coronavirus in recent weeks. A born survivor, King had previously beaten prostate cancer and type 2 diabetes, while in 1987, he underwent a quintuple bypass operation, and in 2017 he had a malignant tumor removed from his lung.
