Not to be confused with the similarly titled action-thriller, IM Global has just hired Daniel Stamm (THE LAST EXORCISM) to remake the popular Thai horror flick 13: GAME OF DEATH. After-all, what better way to spin a Thai story than to let a German take a crack at it? Makes sense, right?!?

Word is Stamm is currently hashing out a script with David Birke (DAHMER, GACY). To potentially make the translation even more muddled, they’ll adapt from Chukiat Sakveerakul’s screenplay, which in turn was adapted from Eakasit Thairatana’s comic book. A lot of voices and original intentions to keep in line there, hopefully a focused final product isn’t too much to ask for.

Here’s the original synopsis for 13: GAME OF DEATH (2006): Pusit is having the worst day of his life. He just lost his job and is in serious debt. That is all about to change when he receives a mysterious phone call with a tempting offer. If he could complete 13 tasks, he will win 100 million Baht. Pusit agrees and the game begins.

I’ll admit, I have not seen the original, but it sounds like a damn good time. Stamm gave us a pretty fresh take on both the mockumentary format and the exorcism template with his last film. Perhaps he will equally impress with 13: GAME OF DEATH.

You think he will?
