The latest season of Showtime’s popular serial killer drama “Dexter” is shaping up to be a rather interesting one – at least going by the new cast. As we told you not too long ago, Colin Hanks and Mos Def – or just Mos, as he’s now being called – have both climbed aboard the new season, the show’s sixth. Now they’ve been joined by acting vet Edward James Olmos.

Olmos of course is best known for his memorable turns in movies like BLADE RUNNER and STAND AND DELIVER, although most recently he’s best known for his leading role on the dynamic Syfy remake of “Battlestar Galactica”. In “Dexter”, Olmos will portray a a brilliant, charismatic professor of religious studies.

No telling if Olmos’ characer is a baddie or not; we already know that Hanks is set to play the main villain this season, with Mos portraying a hardened ex-con who may or may not pose a problem for Miami’s leading forensic analyst/serial killer.

The new season of “Dexter” begins shooting this week; it will air in the fall.

Last season’s big guest star, Julia Stiles.
