In John Carpenter's 1978 classic HALLOWEEN, teenage heroine Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis) sits in a high school classroom where the teacher is discussing the idea of fate being "immovable, like a mountain. It stands where man passes away. Fate never changes." It was Laurie's fate to encounter an escaped, homicidal mental patient named Michael Myers on Halloween night in 1978… but who could have imagined that she would be fated to cross paths with the evil maniac again 40 years later?
The poster released for Blumhouse's upcoming HALLOWEEN sequel yesterday references the fate discussion in the original HALLOWEEN with the tagline "Face Your Fate". Now a new trailer for the film has arrived online (and is embedded below) to give us an idea of what it's going to be like when Laurie Strode and Michael Myers have a rematch four decades in the making.
Directed by David Gordon Green from a screenplay he wrote with Danny McBride and Jeff Fradley, the new HALLOWEEN only acknowledges the events of the original film (so never mind that Laurie was also in HALLOWEEN II, HALLOWEEN H20, and HALLOWEEN: RESURRECTION, because none of that happened in this film's continuity). Laurie Strode, who comes to her final confrontation with Michael Myers, the masked figure who has haunted her since she narrowly escaped his killing spree on Halloween night four decades ago.
Curtis is joined in the cast by Judy Greer as Laurie's daughter Karen; Andi Matichak as Laurie's granddaughter Allyson; Miles Robbins, Virginia Gardner, Dylan Arnold, and Drew Scheid as Allyson's Haddonfield High classmates; Will Patton and Rob Niter as police officers; Rhian Rees as a character named Dana; Toby Huss as Ray; and Diva Tyler as a caretaker. Original Michael Myers performer Nick Castle and stuntman James Jude Courtney both wore the mask of the iconic slasher this time around.
Fate catches up with Laurie Strode when HALLOWEEN reaches theatres on October 19th.
