Lea Seydoux reportedly set to return for Cary Fukunaga’s Bond 25

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

When Daniel Craig returns for his fifth and final James Bond film, he'll be bringing a group of familiar faces along with him. According to The Daily Mail (confirmed by Variety), one of those familiar faces will be Lea Seydoux, who played Dr. Madeleine Swann in SPECTRE. The character was the daughter of the villainous Mr. White (Jesper Christensen) and worked as a psychologist at a private medical clinic in the Austrian Alpes before finding herself thrust into Bond's adventures. SPECTRE came to an end as Bond departed with Madeleine, and it seems that BOND 25 won't be leaving that thread dangling.

The Daily Mail claims that Daniel Craig wants Lea Seydoux back for more, as does BOND 25 director Cary Fukunaga, who told The Daily Mail that "Lea will be returning" along with Ralph Fiennes, Ben Whishaw, and Naomie Harris. "You have some of the best actors in the world here," he said. "Why wouldn't I have the best coming back?!" As Fukunaga himself said several days ago, the script is still being developed, so best not to tie a bow around this just yet. Despite that, Variety's insiders have said that producers are already working on building the cast, which is said to include two other actresses – one playing an M16 agent who works with Bond and another a mystery woman. There's also the role of the Bond villain which needs to be filled, and it was rumoured that Rami Malek was being eyed for the character, although Variety notes that the shooting schedule for the final season of Mr. Robot would likely keep that from happening.

Are you down for Dr. Madeleine Swann to return for BOND 25?

The James Bond films haven't always been been known for their continuity, but Daniel Craig's time with the series has seemingly changed that. As far as BOND 25 goes, Cary Fukunaga recently said that his film will still see Bond on the character arc which began with CASINO ROYALE. "I will be carrying that on," he said. "There will be changes, I am sure. As in any story, a character has to change in order [to have] a narrative."

BOND 25 will hit theaters on February 14, 2020.
