The Mummy Sofia Boutella

Starting last week and continuing on through June 5th, every Monday is a "Mummy Monday" over at Syfy Wire, building up to the June 9th release of THE MUMMY. Each week, the site will be sharing exclusive info and footage from the upcoming Universal reboot. The first two "Mummy Monday" videos can be seen below, staring off with a sneak peek in which stars Tom Cruise, Sofia Boutella, Russell Crowe, and Annabelle Wallis, and director Alex Kurtzman are interviewed about the film. That is followed by a featurette that focuses on the character of the Mummy herself, Boutella as Princess Ahmanet, digging into her back story and the evolution she goes through over the course of the film.

Also newly released online, and embedded below, is a 30 second teaser for the film that was released through the @themummy Twitter account.

THE MUMMY is the first entry in a cinematic universe that Universal is building around the classic monster characters. Over the course of multiple films, characters like Frankenstein's Monster, his Bride, the Wolf Man, the Creature from the Black Lagoon, the Invisible Man, and monster slayer Van Helsing, among others, will be getting rebooted so they can cross paths in modern day.

Scripted by Jon Spaihts, THE MUMMY has the following synopsis:

Thought safely entombed in a crypt deep beneath the unforgiving desert, an ancient queen whose destiny was unjustly taken from her, is awakened in our current day, bringing with her malevolence grown over millennia and terrors that defy human comprehension.

From the sweeping sands of the Middle East through hidden labyrinths under modern-day London, The Mummy brings a surprising intensity and balance of wonder and thrills in an imaginative new take that ushers in a new world of gods and monsters.

Cruise, Boutella, Crowe, and Wallis are joined in the cast by Jake Johnson, Courtney B. Vance, Marwan Kenzari, and Javier Botet. By the way, Crowe's character is Dr. Henry Jekyll…

I continue to be completely on board and extremely hyped for THE MUMMY. I'll definitely be watching all of the "Mummy Mondays" featurettes to help hold me over until June 9th.
