Production house Legendary Pictures (THE DARK KNIGHT, SUPERMAN RETURNS) has commissioned Jayson Rothwell (MALICE IN WONDERLAND) to write THE MOUNTAIN, a thriller taking place in the Cascade Mountains. Also involved is Vertigo Entertainment, which has QUARANTINE coming out this fall.

The story follows a small-town sheriff, newly arrived from the inner city, who assembles a search party to investigate the disappearance of hikers in the Cascade Mountains. The sheriff and the locals discover that the beautiful, remote wilderness can be just as menacing as any urban environment.

A remote wilderness used as a setting in a horror movie? I’ma scared!
