Let us give thanks for the new Captive State teaser trailer

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

Focus Features has debuted a new teaser trailer for their upcoming sci-fi thriller CAPTIVE STATE. Directed by Rupert Wyatt (RISE OF THE PLANEY OF THE APES, THE GAMBLER) and starring John Goodman (RAISING ARIZONA, O BROTHER, WHERE ART THOU?), Ashton Sanders (MOONLIGHT, STRAIGHT OUTTA COMPTON), Jonathan Majors (HOSTILES, WHITE BOY RICK), Vera Farmiga (ORPHAN, BATES MOTEL) and Colson Baker a.k.a. Machine Gun Kelly in his big screen debut, the film is set in a Chicago neighborhood nearly a decade after an occupation by an extra-terrestrial force. When CAPTIVE STATE arrives, it will explore lives on both sides of the conflict – the collaborators and dissidents.

Penning the script for CAPTIVE STATE are Wyatt and THE BATTLE AT SHAKER HEIGHTS scribe Erica Beeny. From what I can gather thanks to the trailer, both writers have crafted a tale that's saturated with despair, as humans attempt to live life under the watchful eye of their alien overlords. If you ask me, it's going to take a lot more than hope to win back the planet. In fact, I'd go so far as to say that it's going to take unity, strategic planning, and likely a hell of a lot of sacrafice. We'll know for sure when CAPTIVE STATE invades theaters on March 29, 2019.
