announced some interesting news this morning. It looks like Icon Productions has sold the distribution rights to their crime thriller BUTTERFLY ON THE WHEEL to none other than Lionsgate Films! I say interesting, because I find it a bit odd that Icon isn’t distributing it on their own, but no bother… if LG is on board, you know it’s gonna be a good time!
The flick stars Pierce Bronson, Maria Bello and Gerard Butler, and goes a little something-something like this:
a mysterious stranger arrives in Chicago and terrorizes a happy-seeming married couple after kidnapping their daughter. Soon it becomes clear that his outrageous demands are not in pursuit of a big cash payment.
Bronson on board as the bad guy? Bello in anything she can possibly get naked in? Butler stretching his mad pre-300 acting skills? Sounds like a flippin’ blast if you ask me! WHEEL’s directed by Mike Barker, and was written by William Morrissey, though no release date has been set quite yet, the film’s all wrapped and ready to rock and roll.
I don’t know why, because the distributors don’t really have anything to do with the actual film, but when a movie’s released by Lionsgate, I have this feeling it’s going to hit by groove button more than, say, Paramount or some of the others.
