According to The Hollywood Reporter, all around friend of the genre, Lionsgate Films, has just picked up the rights to DEAL WITH THE DEVIL, a comic published by Alias Publishing.
DEAL WITH THE DEVIL, you say? Never heard of it! Probably because the first issue of the series just hit stands this past April… must have made quite the splash, though, as the ‘Gate was quick enough to swoop in and pick it up.
To be adapted to the big screen by Kyle Ward, DEVIL goes a little something like this: [The comic] is the tale of a man who once had it all; family, faith, health, the respect and adoration of his peers, and the reputation as the best homicide detective in FBI history. In his last case, his prey became his hunter, and his career was ended in shame and worthlessness. Four years later, his nemesis returns to ask for… his help. Find out why in this thrilling journey through the darkness in a world where things are never what they seem…
Sounds interesting, no? A serial killer asking the help of an FBI agent he basically destroyed. Oh that Devil, what will he think of next???
David Tischman and Lisa Brause are set to produce the adaptation, along with Ward who’s co-producing. Twists on the whole “cop and serial killer cat and mouse game” premise that we’ve seen a gabillion times are always welcomed, should be fun to see how the whole thing turns out.
