As Chris Nolan continues to film THE DARK KNIGHT RISES in Pittsburgh, casting tidbits continue to seep out. Earlier this week we heard Josh Stewart had joined the quarter of a billion dollar tent-pole, and now it seems Nolan is going back to the well.

According to Variety, Liam Neeson has signed on to reprise his role as Ra’s al Ghul in THE DARK KNIGHT RISES. In fact, he’s said to have already filmed a scene.

As previously reported, Josh Pence has been thought to be playing a young version of Ra’s al Ghul. If this is the case, there’s no telling how much of the film will be devoted to the young and old versions of the character. However, given those Lazarus Pit photos that circulated sometime ago, it’s safe to say Liam’s rendition will be resurrected for a good amount of time. Or at least let’s hope that’s the case.

Also starring Christian Bale, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Anne Hathaway, Tom Hardy, Michael Caine, Morgan Freeman, Gary Oldman, Marion Cotillard (below) and Juno Temple – THE DARK KNIGHT RISES July 20, 2012.
