The Taylor Sheridan machine chugs along
Lioness — which you may have also seen as Special Ops: Lioness – had a wildly successful debut season, proving to have Paramount+’s most-watched premiere at that time. With that — and the massive fanbase Sheridan has amassed — no doubt people wanted more after season two. The second season was even confirmed before the first even premiered, just to give an idea of how much stake Paramount has in Sheridan. Under a year ago, the third season had been confirmed, and now, Paramount has unveiled the teaser trailer for season 3.
Lioness season 3
Season 3 will consist of eight episodes and sees the return of Zoe Saldaña, Nicole Kidman and Morgan Freeman. The cast also includes Emmy nominee Michael Kelly, Laysla De Oliveira, Dave Annable, Jill Wagner, LaMonica Garrett, James Jordan, Genesis Rodriguez, Austin Hébert, Jonah Wharton, Thad Luckinbill, Hannah Love Lanier and Ian Bohen.
The official synopsis for season 3 reads,
“In Season Three, from creator and writer Taylor Sheridan, hidden networks, foreign operatives, and personal betrayals collide. Joe (Saldaña) walks the line between duty and home as unseen forces circle her world. Patterns appear where they shouldn’t, names vanish, and paths rearrange. Guided by Kaitlyn (Kidman) and Westfield (Kelly), Joe confronts enemies operating in the shadows, leaving her to reckon with a war that now reaches into every part of her life.”
Lioness is executive produced by Taylor Sheridan, David C. Glasser, Zoe Saldaña, Nicole Kidman, Ron Burkle, David Hutkin, Bob Yari, Michael Friedman, Jill Wagner, David Lemanowicz, Geyer Kosinski and Keith Cox.
What did we think about the show?
Our Alex Maidy gave the first episode of the series a glowing review, stating, “With a fascinating concept and two very capable actors in lead roles, Special Ops: Lioness premieres with an episode that literally blows things up at the start and never lets go for a full hour. There have been a lot of military-centric series over the years, but few have been as rousing to me as this one. Zoe Saldana and Laysla De Oliveira live up to the title of this series as fierce warriors. Few series have hooked me after one episode the way Special Ops: Lioness has and I cannot wait to see more.”
Lioness season 3 starts streaming Sunday, August 2, on Paramount+.
