Lionsgate might be releasing Hellraiser: Judgment in February

Hellraiser: Judgment Paul T. Taylor

Director Gary Tunnicliffe's HELLRAISER: JUDGMENT, a low budget sequel made so Dimension Films could retain the rights to the HELLRAISER franchise, was filmed nearly two years ago, and the film's fate has been in question ever since. At first things were cloudy because Dimension has a tendency to keep films on the shelf, then in recent months the company ran into trouble as the Weinstein empire was brought down by scandal.

Now fans have noticed something strange and unexpected, but worth being cautiously excited about: Amazon has started taking pre-orders for copies of HELLRAISER: JUDGMENT on Blu-ray, with a release date of February 13, 2018.

Adding more intrigue to this mysterious listing is that the distributor is said to be Lionsgate. If this listing is accurate, it looks like Dimension sold the film to Lionsgate. If they did that, did any other HELLRAISER rights go with it?

We'll have to wait and see what's going on here, but if you want to give this pre-order a try in the meantime JUDGMENT's Amazon page can be found at THIS LINK.

Written by Tunnicliffe, HELLRAISER: JUDGMENT has the following synopsis:

Detectives Sean and David Carter are on the case to find a gruesome serial killer terrorizing the city. Joining forces with Detective Christine Egerton, they dig deeper into a spiraling maze of horror that may not be of this world. Could the Judgment awaiting the killer’s victims also be waiting for Sean?

The cast includes Damon Carney as Detective Sean Carter, Randy Wayne as Detective David Carter, Alexandra Harris as Detective Christine Egerton, Jeff Fenter as Karl Watkins, Helena Grace Donald as the ancient Jophiel, Grace Montie as socialite Crystal Lanning, John Gulager as The Assessor, Diane Goldner as The Cleaner, Andi Powers as a member of a hellish jury, Mike Jay Regan as Chatterer, Heather Langenkamp as a foul-mouthed landlady, and Paul T. Taylor as the iconic Pinhead.

HELLRAISER: JUDGMENT was filmed back-to-back with another low budget Dimension sequel, CHILDREN OF THE CORN: RUNAWAY. I'm hoping to see that one show up on Amazon soon.
