According to Variety, Liv Ullmann has been unofficially confirmed as the director of the upcoming stage musical THE GHOST BROTHERS OF DARKLAND COUNTY, from the creative minds of Stephen King and John Mellencamp.
We’ve heard talk on this for years now, so it’s nice to see it finally coming together. So what’s GHOST BROTHERS gonna be about, anyway? Funny you should ask… [the musical] centers on the legend of a 1957 tragedy that has haunted a small Mississippi town.
While no stage date, or theater, or anything other than the director has been announced, a recording session for GHOST BROTHERS went underway back in January for a yet-to-be released album in conjuncture with the play. Those involved with the recording included Kris Kristofferson, Elvis Costello, Roseanne Cash, Neko Case, Sheryl Crow, Mellencamp, and others. Not bad for a little musical that hasn’t even come out yet!
No release date on the album has been announced yet either, but as soon as we hear more about this beast, you’ll be the first to know!
