Long Weekend remake planned

Well slap my fanny and call me Lucy (please don’t actually do that), seems like another remake is in the works! This one is different for me however, in that I’ve never heard of the movie being remade. It’s called LONG WEEKEND, and it involves the misadventures of a couple traveling in the outback when they’re attacked by “nature.”

Interestingly, the scribe of the original, Everett De Roche, has been hired to pen this new one, with Jaime Blanks (VALENTINE) sitting in the director’s chair.

Blanks told Fangoria: “I’m very excited about the project, and have loved the original movie for many years. I look forward to continuing the great relationship I have had with Everett De Roche over the past year and a half while we made STORM WARNING. LONG WEEKEND was largely ignored in Australia on its release, but found a strong and loyal cult following in the U.S. and Britain, and was singled out by Quentin Tarantino as one of the five best Australian movies ever.”

As we know, Tarantino’s taste is impeccable, and never has he steered us wrong with a recommendation. Okay, that’s a bald-faced lie, but I can’t help but want to see a movie with the tagline :“Their crime was against nature… and nature found them GUILTY!”

Yeah, nature, kick that ass!

Have any of you lot seen the flick in question? Am I nuttier than a squirrel turd for not having checked it out already? Spit some bullets, let me know what you think!
