It is surprising that it has taken this long for the 3D fad to be applied to a disaster movie. Anything with huge explosions, collapsing buildings, and mass destruction would be an ideal fit for the three dimensional format. But, regardless of that, it looks like New Line Cinema will be popping the 3D disaster cherry.
SAN ANDREAS 3D, which was rumored to be directed by JOURNEY 2: THE MYSTERIOUS ISLAND’s Brad Peyton. With Peyton recently being named director for the LOBO movie, they may be going back to the drawing board.
Former LOST showrunner Carlton Cuse has been brought on board to script SAN ANDREAS 3D. The plot is said to “take place when a massive quake strikes California and centers on one man who must make the treacherous journey across the state to rescue his estranged daughter,”
Sounds exactly like THE DAY AFTER TOMORROW and 2012. Maybe Roland Emmerich will want to direct it?
