Lovely Bones clip/poster

MYSPACE has just debuted a new poster and an exclusive clip from Peter Jackson’s THE LOVELY BONES. While it may not look like much at first glance, the one-sheet is actually pretty creepy, as it shows young Susie Salmon (played by Saoirse Ronan) walking toward her eventual murderer (played by Stanley Tucci). The clip isn’t as engaging – your typical teen lovey-dovey stuff, and I think after this weekend we’ve had just about enough of that.

Still, with the always inventive Jackson at the helm, I’m looking forward to this one. The book is supposedly a real tear-jerker, while at the same time being filled with some genuinely disturbing moments. (Apparently the murder sequence is truly horrifying.) Should be an interesting blend.

Here’s the (somewhat spoiler-y) synopsis: In 1973, Susie Salmon (Ronan) is murdered by a neighbor, George Harvey (Tucci), a serial killer of young girls and women. She finds herself in ‘the in-between’ a Heaven-like place, observing her family as they grieve for her. She also watches her killer who, having covered his tracks successfully, is preparing to murder again. Susie struggles to balance her desire for vengeance on Harvey and her desire to have her family recover from their loss.

Check out the clip below. THE LOVELY BONES opens on DECEMBER 11th.
