Lucasfilm has revealed some Star Wars Episode VII character names

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

J.J. Abrams and Kathleen Kennedy were not content to let us go through the final weeks of 2014 without another STAR WARS: EPISODE VII – THE FORCE AWAKENS treat and have unveiled a series of photos from the trailer for the film exclusively to Entertainment Weekly. Normally, screenshots wouldn’t be a big deal, but these are designed in a very cool way to look like the old trading cards released during the Original Trilogy.

In addition to the cool card format, we now have some names to go with the characters glimpsed in the teaser trailer. We now know the rolling droid unit is called BB-8, Daisy Ridley‘s character is names Rey, Oscar Isaac plays Poe Dameron, John Boyega is Finn, and the shrouded Sith seen with the lightsaber in the woods is Kylo Ren. What do any of these names mean? I have no idea. But, we may be in for more cards like this in the future. The cards are numbered ranging from low digits up to 96. This could just be a fun nod to the card format or maybe there are more on the way.

STAR WARS: EPISODE VII – THE FORCE AWAKENS is going to be teasing us for the next 372 days and if they keep coming as cool as this reveal, I look forward to every single one. STAR WARS: EPISODE VII – THE FORCE AWAKENS hits theaters on December 18, 2015.
