M. Night Shyamalan, Joaquin Phoenix and Jason Blum making a film together?

Are we witnessing the resurgence of M. Night Shyamalan? The famous – and famously inconsistent – writer-producer-director knocked one out of the park on TV with Wayward Pines a few months ago, and has the buzzed-about THE VISIT coming out in a few weeks. (Heard it’s good!) Now it looks like Shyamalan is already preparing his latest project, one that will see him re-team with THE VISIT producer Jason Blum and SIGNS/THE VILLAGE actor Joaquin Phoenix.

Deadline reports the film, which is untitled, will start shooting in November in the director’s hometown of Philadelphia. Plot details are being kept under wraps; not unlike THE VISIT (and most Blumhouse productions), the budget will be fairly small.

No studio is attached to the project yet, but we can expect that to change if this thing gels. Marc Bienstock will also produce, while Ashwin Rajan and Steven Schneider are on board as executive producers.

Are you prepared for M. Night Shyamalan 2.0?
