It’s already almost been exactly one year since I experienced GRINDHOUSE at the movies and one of my favorite memories of the whole extravaganza would have to be the “fake” trailers that ran before both flicks! But hold on a second, amigo! According to Mr. Machete himself, Danny Trejo (above), “fake” may not be the accurate word!
Not too long ago, Jared gave us some progressive insight as well as a possible poster here which further fueled the chances of Robert Rodriguez’s MACHETE, the most plausible of all the trailers, becoming an actual film. And now Danny “muscle-bound-&-mustached” Trejo has provided even more insight on the likelihood of his man with the large blades chopping up the big screen.
He spoke briefly to Bloody-Disgusting and said that Robert Rodriguez is still working on getting MACHETE off the ground and hopes the director will be ready when he finishes another project he is currently working on. He also confirms that Rodriguez will in fact direct the film, and not just produce it. In addition, Trejo breaks the news that Dimension Films is looking to turn MACHETE into a trilogy!
Tres MACHETE’s?! Aye Carumba, what a great idea! I will definitely be keeping my ear to the ground for more info. Till then, here’s a refresher on the flick’s plot: After being betrayed by the organization who hired him, an ex-Federale (Trejo) launches a brutal rampage of revenge against his former boss.
