Magnolia snags Mother

There’s lots of mother news floating around today. First, the chick who rocked the cradle is back at it again in MOTHER’S DAY (check that shite HERE), and now it appears as though Magnolia Pictures have acquired the North American rights to Bong Joon-Ho’s MOTHER, the Korean horror flick that has been kicking the festival circuit’s ass for about the last year.

We first showed you the teaser to MOTHER HERE earlier this summer, and that may have gotten the word talking to make this deal happen. That or because Magnolia had a huge hit on their hands when they released Joon-Ho’s THE HOST a few years back, and word of mouth from just about everyone who has seen this has been amazing.

MOTHER goes a little something like this: A mother desperately searches for the killer that framed her son for their horrific murder.

No North American release date has been officially announced, but sometime early next year is the likely release slot. What, not in prime Oscar season? Stick around for that official date as we wait for it’s announcement, and while we wait for that, check out the film’s trailer below!
